Mitigation of GPS Carrier Phase Multipath Effects in Real-Time Kinematic Applications

چکیده
In some situations where short delay and low frequency multipath due to a moving platform itself and close-by reflectors is predominant, a parametric estimation approach based on functional models, which relate the multipath errors of the code and carrier tracking loops with multipath parameters, is useful in mitigating the effects of multipath in the code and carrier phase measurements. 214 We have carried out a feasibility study to investigate potential problems in the parametric estimation approach for multipath in real-time and kinematic applications. Based on our understanding of the approach using a multiple antenna-receiver system, we have tried to extend earlier work with several modifications such as different types of antenna-receiver system configurations, careful consideration of the antenna/receiver gain pattern, and the use of dual-frequency antennas and receivers, and so on. We have found that parametric estimation for multipath is feasible in real-time and kinematic applications as long as the observability problem in the measurement sensitivity matrix of the multipath parameters is solved. Several concluding remarks and recommendations related to hardware and software system implementation are discussed from a practical point of view.

Mitigation of Static Carrier Phase Multipath Effects Using Multiple Closely-Spaced Antennas
The effect of carrier phase multipath in static mode is investigated and a system is developed to reduce the effect using multiple closely-spaced antennas. The correlated nature of multipath, along with the known geometry among the antennas, are used with the measured relative carrier phase differences to aid in the extraction of the direct carrier phase from the multipath-corrupted carrier pha...
متن کاملMultipath Mitigation of Continuous GPS Measurements Using an Adaptive Filter
Though state-of-the-art dual-frequency receivers are employed in the Continuous GPS arrays (CGPS), the CGPS coordinate time series are typically very noisy due to the effects of atmospheric biases, multipath, receiver noise, etc., with multipath generally being considered the major noise contributor. An adaptive Finite-duration Impulse Response filter, based on a least-mean-square algorithm, ha...

RTK GPS has become a global utility in engineering survey activities. RTK GPS offers an efficient means of providing near instantaneous positions by employing differential GPS positioning whereby users can obtain sub-centimetre/millimetre level position in real time. In RTK GPS all algorithms using code information only are limited to range accuracy of about 0.5-1.0 metres due to code noise. Ho...

The results of a land semikinematic or stop-and-go test, conducted under normal operational conditions to assess the performance of a high-accuracy and multipathresistant new C/A-code receiver technology, are presented. This type of test was selected to provide an accurate assessement of both the carrier phase and code data under static and kinematic conditions. The control points determined wi...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Multipath Mitigation Architecture for GPS System
In this paper, a multipath mitigation tracking system is presented for static GPS applications. It is comprised of four function blocks, those being (1) adaptive path estimator (APE), (2) multipath interference reproducer (MPIR), (3) Rake-based delay locked loop (RB-DLL), and (4) Rake-based phase locked loop (RB-PLL). Only the short delay condition with delay less than 1.5 PN chip is considered...
